Image mosaicing using sequential bundle adjustment
نویسندگان
چکیده
We describe the construction of accurate panoramic mosaics from multiple images taken with a rotating camera, or alternatively of a planar scene. The novelty of the approach lies in (i) the transfer of photogrammetric bundle adjustment techniques to mosaicing; (ii) a new representation of image line measurements enabling the use of lines in camera self-calibration, including computation of the radial and other non-linear distortion; and (iii) the application of the Variable State Dimension Filter (VSDF) to obtain efficient sequential updates of the mosaic as each image is added. We demonstrate that our method achieves better results than the alternative approach of optimising over pairs of images.

متن کاملAutomatic Gigapixel Mosaicing in Large Scale Unstructured Underground Environments
We are currently developing a vision-based system aiming at automatically generating in situ ultra-high resolution mosaics in previously unknown, complex and unstructured underground environments. Nowadays, image stitching algorithms present several limitations when dealing with unstructured environments. The most important to our concern is the ability to deal with feature-less areas. In this ...
متن کاملDocument image mosaicing
If it is impossible to capture all the image in one scan with the available equipment, a montage can be made from separately scanned pieces. We describe an automatic mosaicing process for document images. The image shifts are found by a correlation technique, using an image pyramid and sequential similarity to reduce computation time. Image placement and overlap is used to reject incorrect solu...
متن کاملMosaicing Video Sequences
With the advent of cheap, but relatively low-resolution, video sensors, the importance of automatically mosaicing many small video images to one large image has increased. This is due mainly to the many useful applications that may be based on such technology, such as hand-held mobile scanning, multi-resolution imaging, panoramic spreads and video compression. The process of creating a mosaiced...
متن کاملRealtime Image Matching for Vision Based Car Navigation with Built-in Sensory Data
Recently, a car employs various built-in sensors such as a speedometer, odometer, accelerometer and angular rate sensor for safety and maintenance. These sensory data can be provided in real time through a CAN (Controller Area Network) bus. In addition, image sequences can be provided from various cameras mounted to the car, such as built-in front and around view monitoring cameras. We thus pro...
